What can I eat for a low carb breakfast?
I always wake up starving. I guess it's been programmed into me from years of eating breakfast as soon as I get up. It's tiring having to decide what to eat when you barely awake and none of the choices sound that great. Usually I opt for some low carb breakfast foods. There's a wide variety of these, ranging from poached eggs and omelets to coconut pancakes and flax muffins.
Tips for Cooking Omelets
Egg products are generally the staple of most low carb breakfasts. And the low carb recipes out there reflect this. There a thousands of ways to make an omelet, some simple and some elaborate. Although omelets may look easy to make, following a few simple tips will make them even tastier.
First, always fry the vegetables first as they take longer to cook than the eggs. For example, most people like their onions to be well done in the omelets. Place a bit of butter into the frying pan and sauté the chopped onions until they turn transparent.
Second, use flavorful elements in your omelet. Eggs are not very tasteful so whatever you decide to put in with the eggs must have lots of flavor. That's why bacon can be great in omelets. Onions are also good. I've grown to really enjoy leeks in my omelets. You can also add seasoning to make the omelets more flavorful. If you like spicy foods then try adding some hot sauce. I like to mix the spices and condiments in with the beaten eggs so that it's spread throughout the dish. Add any salt you want in your omelet this way as well.
Third, do not overcook the eggs. This is probably the most crucial bit of advice. Overcooked eggs are dry and disgusting no matter what amazing ingredients you put into them. The only way to make the eggs tasty is to have them still soft. If you think the eggs might be getting overdone, then they are definitely done! It can be daunting trying to judge when they are cooked but not overcooked. It is unfortunately a very fine line. The only way to get good at this is experience. Once you have had the chance to cook a bunch of omelets, you will be better at judging when the eggs are done.
These same tips also apply to scrambles. But omelets and scrambles are not the only low carb egg products available for breakfast. Baked eggs are also popular. An easy way to make egg bakes is with a muffin pan. One egg can easily fit into the pan. Then you can add bacon and other spices to it. It's easy to place the tray into the oven and leave it to bake while you get ready in the morning.
Quick Breakfasts
If you're like me though, then you probably don't have time to make even an omelet in the mornings. For us, something quick is required. Low carb cereal or ready made muffins would be ideal. Another quick low carb breakfast food is protein shakes. These can be made with just a shaker and some protein powder. Or you can make a more complicated protein shake with some fruits and coconut milk. Even with some extra ingredients, these shakes rarely take more than a few minutes to make. This leaves you full and nourished as well as plenty of time to get to work or school.
Low Carb Breakfast Cereals Are Here
Another great options for low carb breakfasts is low carb cereal. Many cereals are made from wheat products and have gluten. However, you can now buy great low carb options for cereals instead! These are sugar-free and gluten-free and made from low carb ingredients! I'm so happy that there's yet another low carb breakfast option!

Plan Your Low Carb Meals Now
After a wonderful weekend, you start worrying about the following week. All that housework, homework, office work, meals to be cooked - it's stressful just thinking about them. In fact, just the thought makes me want to go back to bed and hide under the covers. There are a number of easy breakfast options that you can choose. There is cereal, for instance. Most mornings I choose to eat low carb cereal since I am on a low carb diet.I pour cold coconut milk over the cereal and eat. It doesn't take hardly any time at all.
It is also safe to serve this to your family members. Basically, it is a simple and easy to prepare breakfast for the entire family. Salad, I think, is one of the best lunch fares. You can make them easily or you can buy them readily from stores. It is normal to see so many salad bars operating near offices. The salad ingredients as well as the dressing can be personally chosen by you.You will be faced with healthy options and not so healthy ones.
For example, it's not so great to put cheese in the salad and then to add a sweet salad dressing! Low carb dressings include ranch and Caesar, but I suggest you use olive oil and red wine vinegar for the healthiest salads. Olive oil and red wine vinegar are the healthiest dressings for salads although ranch and Caesar dressings are low carb. I find that I feel fuller longer when I eat plenty of protein. You can also add eggs, tuna, chicken or salmon.
You should also add a lot of green vegetables to the mix. Asparagus, spinach, and broccoli are all very good! Dinner is on another plane altogether. You're exhausted from a whole day of work. Everyone wants food and they want it fast. As a result, you end up getting some takeaway or simply heat up some frozen foods. This could cancel all that great work you did throughout the day to be healthy!
So what should be done about this? I recommend you cook over the weekend and heat food up when you get home each night. In this way, you can still have the nutritional benefits of delicious homemade foods without sweating over it too much after you've already exhausted yourself at work all day. There are lots of recipes you could scale up to make a large batch over the weekend. Try chili without the beans and the cornbread. You can consume a large pot of chili over the following week.Another option is beef stew.
You can make this overnight in a slow cooker, so it's even easier! Chicken tikka masala can also be made easily at home and stored in the fridge until you need it. What about dessert? Even if desserts seem to be complicated, there are low carb desserts that you can try preparing yourself.Flax meal, peanut or almond butter, and coconut flour are all great options for making various baked goods. You can make cookies, muffins, or pancakes. Top them off with sugar-free jams and syrups to add flavor.Low carb cheesecake is also a very good possibility. Since cheesecake is already low in carbs to begin with, all that is left for you to do is to replace the sugar with a sweetener.
Prepare a whole cake and eat one slice per day. And there goes your entire week, all mapped out for you!It may not be simple, but it's doable!

Low Carb Pizza is Here Too!
In the middle of 'lecture' on the merit of going on a low carb diet, a friend interrupted by saying it would never work for her since it would mean she'd have to give up her favorite pizza. I was shocked; she didn't know that there are low carb pizzas that are just as flavorful and as tasty as her favorites. Now you won't ever have to crave pizza again on the low carb diet and not being able to live without pizza just won't work as an excuse not to be on a low carb diet.
This great tasting healthy pizza takes only a few minutes to prepare and only 10 minutes in the oven to cook so you can be devouring it hungrily in a remarkably short time. It works as a midday snack or as a very filling dinner. It's no different from your usual pizza since you can bring it with you everywhere and anywhere you go. You don't even have to spend so much on the ingredients you'll be using, and you can make sure that they're the freshest and best ingredients you can get hold of.Making low carb pizza involves two components: the base, or what we refer to as the crust, and the sauce. It's pretty much the same as when you're making other types of pizzas.
You can make the base and the sauce separately in advance and just put it together when you're hungry. The crust is best stored frozen and the sauce refrigerated. Make the crust from flax meal and Parmesan cheese; the flax meal is made from very low carb ground flax seed and the Parmesan cheese binds the whole thing together while adding flavor. You can make crusts in large batches and store them in ziplock bags in the freezer, ready to be taken out when you need them. If you're feeling lazy, then you can just forget about the sauce and toppings and just heat up the crust and eat it as flat bread. Use some olive oil and vinegar as a dip, and you have a great quick snack. If you want the whole works, however, you must prepare this sauce.
Although it is simple, it is very flavorful. You can use it on non low carb pizzas as well! You can make this amazing Italian homemade sauce and store it for future use on your pizza. The sauce contains a variety of herbs, tomato paste and olive oil. One small can of tomato paste, and you can easily add sauce to about 10 pizzas! And, lastly, there are the toppings.Did you know that most pizza toppings are already low-carb, so you can simply add mozzarella slices and your usual favorites. For ease, I just place a few slices of mozzarella with a few slices of pepperoni on top. If you like sausage then put some small chunks of sausage on it. If you want things to be a bit more upscale, a bit of arugula and prosciutto would work wonderfully. You would never run out of possibilities!
Finally, when cooking, just pop the pizza into the oven and let it cook for 10 minutes; then you have the best pizza ever! Check to see if the cheese is melted. It's so easy it barely feels like cooking!
